Our Team
We live in community.
Dykes With Drills is made up of a network of women who are passionate about sharing their love and knowledge of building with others, and exemplify the goals and values that we nurture in our participants.
Carrie Rasor
Executive Director
Carrie Rasor is a woodworker and small business owner based in New Orleans. In addition to her work with Dykes With Drills, Carrie owns a community makerspace for people to learn and create. Her journey into woodworking began in 2014 when she enrolled in the furniture making program at the Chicago School of Woodworking. Through her community makerspace and her work with Dykes With Drills, she is dedicated to teaching woodworking skills and creating an inclusive environment for individuals to learn and create together.
Jackie Frole
New York Program Liaison
Jackie, a set designer and artist living and working in Chicago, is thrilled to bring Dykes With Drills to New York. Jackie began her woodworking career designing and building sets for theater. She also creates and styles sets and props for tv & film; her favorite among them being TruTV’s hidden-camera magic prank show “The Carbonaro Effect.”
AK Kritt
Chicago Program Liaison
AK Kritt first joined the DWD team during the pandemic with an awesome, two part virtual weaving and loom making workshop. She is an incredible community builder, has great ideas for workshops, meetups and builds, is outgoing, connected and a wonderful addition to our team!
Sarah Nelson
Bay Area Program Liaison
Sarah started at Dykes With Drills as a participant and quickly made her way into the role of volunteer, event lead and now Program Liaison. Sarah loves running community builds and meet-ups, and is welcoming and supportive of all of our new builders.
Julie Peri
FOUNDER
Julie is a builder. She spent her childhood playing with LEGOs, got a degree in civil engineering and worked as a construction supervisor with Habitat for Humanity prior to starting Dykes With Drills to teach women and queers how to build. Julie believes in learning from our mistakes, collaborative team work, and creative design process. Julie is passionate about sharing her love of growth with others, and believes that “anything is possible.”
